Quick Guide to IRC!

Welcome to the simple guide on how to join #binktopia and #mangashare on IRC - to talk with the moderators, fellow users and also even leech manga.

• First of all, you'll have to download Chatzilla (yes, there are far better applications like xchat or mIRC, but I'll describe the easiest way here.)
• Once installed (it's not even 1mb of size), open Firefox and enter irc://irc.irchighway.net/binktopia
• Chatzilla will open and connect you to #binktopia (channel) on irc.irchighway.net (server).

Commands you should know once on IRC:

/j #channelname will connect you to another channel - for example: /j #mangashare

/nick somename will change your nickname, but be aware, some nicknames will be registered, so you won't be able to use them.
(that's to prevent users from trolling using others' nicks)

/ns register password email - with that command you can register your own nickname (your current nick will be registered).
An email will be sent to you, including a command line, something like /msg NickServ confirm ds45ewfas - just copy paste it into chatzilla and your nickname will be registered.

Remember the password that you used in this line: /ns register password email

Having a registered nickname means, that you'll have to enter /ns identify password every time you join IRC.

Registered nicks of course have certain priviledges, you'll be able to join some restricted channels and your nick can be granted with a higher level of access.

Nicks with a + are voiced, which allows those users to post even when the channel gets set to moderated - mostly users who are constantly active get voice status.
Nicks with a % are half-operators, which allows them to kick and ban and also change the topic of a channel. /on #binktopia all the normal cleaners have %
Nicks with a @ are Operators, making them a higher group than half-ops. /on #binktopia chief cleaners and mangashare admins have @
Nicks with a & are admins. /on #binktopia admins and techs get &

We also have 2 bots on #binktopia, from which you can leech manga really simple, just type !list to see the possible commands.

Here's a small tutorial so it does everything automatically upon clicking the menu option to open Chatzilla.

After that, close chatzilla and open it again. It should connect automatically.
Then do #1 again and continue with the image below.
